Rules - Fun - Life

The most seen happening in most of the metro cities in India, people never pay heed to traffic signals. From my observation, the main cause (entities, not reasons) for most of the accidents are Autos, Cyclists and Pedestrains. I very rarely see vehicles in the above categories following the traffic rules. Most of the times Auto Dirvers never look at traffic signals.

The maximum speed of an Auto can be seen when the traffic lights change from Green to Amber and to Red. The general assumption of an autowala is that if the front wheel of his vehicle gets into a gap, he strongly feels that the whole vehicle gets through the gap. Everyday morning atleast one Auto hits another vehicle and causes a traffic jam. Shortest duration of time can be measured when the traffic signal changes from Red to Green and the Autowala at your back horns.

Needless to say, Cyclists hardly follow any rules. Simple reason being they cannot be traced (No number plates). Amidst any traffic jam, these people have the previlege of not bothering about the traffic or the signal to cross roads and proceed with their journey.

Pedestrains, ooohhh the urgency of a pedestrian is directly proportional to the speed of the vehicle about to hit them. Waiting for just few seconds would never risk their life, but they always love to lead a risky life. I always wonder if the Pedestrian Signal ever matters in India.

Having these people aside, most of the times the Traffic Seargent who sees all these hardly cares to take any steps. This wonders me. Their main job is to ensure that everyone follows rules and regulations. But they simply watch people going against the rules. Irritating isn't it?

Everyone on the roads, these days, follow a simple mantra, "If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun". But for the fun of few, many have lost their precious lives. Every year atlest few hundreds lose their lives because of someone's fun.

Will this change atleast in the days to come?

U have missed the lorry walas and also the drunk drivers who are responsible for most the accidents caused.
Wht do you think the traffic Seargent can do? If he has to charge a complaint against ppl who don't follow traffic rules then the book he has will not be enuf for the day.
I think the only solution to this problem is that every person should be careful.
But yeah not a feasible solution. That wud b the ideal world.
Cant help it.

I think unless we bring a strict fine system, this can never be changed. As u said people take it for granted because its very difficult to trace most of the vehicles. Moreover, the whole licensing system itself need to be changed and strict rules must be enforced.

the whole licensing needs to be changed? Man, the whole political/governmental system needs to be changed. I say India needs a few years of military dictatorship like Pakistan. We'd be much better off after that.
